Muppets!

For the past week, the students have been reading a short novel about the Mississippi native and Kermit the frog creator, Jim Hensen. After learning about his personal life and his successful career, the students created a TV show similar to the same way that Jim would have developed a skit for his Muppets. They completed a character web and a storyboard to help develop their characters and plot. While learning about simple machines in science, the student learned that their Muppet was a lever. The students built their Muppet while learning about the load, fulcrum, and force that is used to make their Muppet work. Students performed their TV show for classmates while keeping in mind the importance of voice, timing, and puppetry.
